help: beautify skin review

Hey everyone,

As you will see, earlier this week I helped launch Works with Water’s #BEUNSELFIE campaign.

The company are the UK’s first to develop a range of soluble and ready-to-eat food supplements formulated with ingredients which are clinically proven to help with skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, eczema and ageing.

Among their skin perfecting products is help: beautify skin, a ready-to-eat beauty supplement which comes in jelly form and is aimed at giving your skin a hit of anti-ageing goodness to help you achieve a youthful, glowing, healthy complexion.

The apple flavour, mess-free jellies come in handy 10g sachets, which can be popped in your handbag or kept in a desk draw at work so that they fit seamlessly into your lifestyle and easily become part of your daily beauty regime.

Each sachet contains PravenAGE – a blend of CoEnzymeQ10, marine collagen, Resveratrol, aloe vera and vitamin C. They are also free from artificial colours and flavours and suitable for vegetarians, coeliacs and those on a calorie controlled diet.

Personally I don’t think this is any different to taking a multi-vitamin, it’s just designed for your skin.

So, let’s break it down for you and find out more about what these ingredients are and how they can help your skin:

CoEnzymeQ10 (CoQ10):

As we get older we produce less CoQ10 and, although it’s found naturally in foods such as beans, beef, eggs, fish, spinach and whole grains, we don’t consume enough to meet the levels our body needs as we age.

An unhealthy diet, pollution and stress cause a drop in our CoQ10 levels too.

However, studies have shown that taking CoQ10, which has energising and anti-oxidative properties, in an oral supplement is highly effective and long-term use reduces the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes.

Marine collagen:

Collagen keeps the skin looking full and firm, so a lack of it causes the skin to sag and wrinkle. From our 20s onward our body’s production of collagen declines by around 1% a year!

Marine collagen helps top up our levels, leaving skin looking plumper and rejuvenated.

Resveratrol:

This is a chemical compound found in the skin of red grapes which has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Aloe vera:

This helps calm, nourish and regenerate the skin and has detoxifying properties that strengthen skin cells for a younger looking, healthier complexion.

Vitamin C:

Not only does this aid the production of collagen, but also helps fight against the damage pollution causes to the skin.

A box of help: beautify skin contains 14 sachets and costs £22.94. It’s recommended you take one or two a day and the sachets can be chilled too.

When you first pick up a sachet it feels like there’s liquid inside and I had no idea what to expect but, tearing it open, you push the cloudy green jelly up out of the packet and suck it straight out!

If you like apple flavoured things you will have no problem eating this and it’s gone in a couple of bites.

I wasn’t so sure on the taste. It smelt fine but while eating it the taste was too chemically for me, yet it had a really pleasant sweet, apple aftertaste. If I gulped it down quickly, I was fine. Also, if you’re not keen on slimy and slippery textures, then this might be hard for you to stomach, but if you ate it chilled it might seem more like a sweet treat and would be very refreshing.

These won’t work miracles overnight but within a couple of weeks you are supposed to see a difference.

I felt my skin looked fuller, fresher and had a bright glow to it. They are easy to introduce into your daily life too – a great no-fuss way of getting a boost of vital vitamins and nutrients inside you, that will show on the outside too!
